About AtmosClear

AtmosClear has contracted with Microsoft to deliver 6.75 million metric tons of engineered carbon removal from bioenergy carbon capture & storage (BECCS) over 15 years.

This is the world’s largest contract for permanent carbon removals to date.

The plant will use sustainable materials like sugarcane bagasse and trimmings from prudent forest management to produce clean energy while capturing 680,000 metric tons of biogenic carbon dioxide per year, which will be utilized for permanent storage or beneficial use, such as a feedstock for low-carbon natural gas and other synthetic fuels.

AtmosClear expects to begin construction in 2026 and to be fully operational in 2029.

AtmosClear is expected to:

  • Deliver an estimated $800+ million investment in Louisiana
  • Create 600 construction jobs
  • Create 75 permanent jobs
